Weekly News: April 9-13

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend with your families. We had a great time visiting the Easter bunny at Braswells and going on our Easter egg hunt. A big thank you to all the parents who were able to join us!

We have had so much fun learning about our tadpoles. We will continue to observe their metamorphosis and watch how they grow and change.

Please remember that Sharing Homework is an important part of our classroom. It is the ONLY homework you are required to turn in. Starting this week, students that do not turn in their sharing homework will not get the chance to go to Fun Friday.

Remember to work on those community service projects.  Presentations will be due the last week of April (23rd-27th).  Every student at Inland Leaders is required to participate in a Community Service Project of his or her choosing. The requirement for kindergarten students consists of 6hours of service. Projects in the past have included: collecting food and clothing for homeless shelters, collecting and donating to various organizations and charities, volunteering at senior citizen homes, animal shelters, and the humane society. Each child is then required to present their project in class. Presentations in the past have included: posterboards, journals, slideshows, books, and pictures documenting the project from start to finish. This is a great way to serve the community as a family.

What Are We Learning This Week??:

Sight Words: GOES, DOES, YES, NOT, WILL.

Letter Team: No new letter teams this week. Please review and practice ALL letter teams.

Reading: We will read books about the life cycle of tadpoles and our poem of the week, "Five Little Tadpoles".

Writing: We will write all about the life cycle of a frog.

Math: This week, we will continue fact families and using a number line to help us with addition and subtraction problems. Some students will not be doing Excel this week, but focusing on Check-Off Challenge and 100's Club instead.
Please continue to work on circled problems that students are missing and reinforcing these concepts at home. Practice your math facts everyday for our  Tuesday and Friday Timed Tests!

Leadership: SERVICE.
