New Homework Expectations:  We will have new homework expectations for the rest of the year. We will not only be recording students that have turned in their "Turn-In Homework", but we will be checking Smarty Ants and DreamBox to make sure students are spending 10-15 minutes a day on each program. We will also be keeping track of students that bring book bags to school every day. Thank you for your continued support at home!

Flashcards: Don't forget to make new flashcards for each sight word and letter team. New words for this week are: FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, NEXT, LAST  and new letter team: TCH. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRACTICE ALL OF YOUR OLD FLASHCARDS - ESPECIALLY THOSE YOUR CHILD IS STILL STRUGGLING WITH - ASSESSMENTS AND REPORT CARDS ARE COMING UP!!!! 

Phonemic Awareness:  Please work with your child on the following Phonemic Awareness skills - rhyming, blending, segmenting, syllables, and beginning/middle/ending sounds. Please see our Phonemic Awareness tab for ideas and tips. Please check your child's report card from the first and second trimester to see Foundational Skills areas where they may still need support. 

Reading: Play Smarty Ants for 10-15 minutes each night. In addition to Smarty Ants, we ask that you read your Book Bag every night. This includes: sight words and letter team RAN Boards, fluency passage, any paper books, and library book.

You can also access Raz-kids Reading. This is a web sight reading program where your child can access digital books online. The books can be read and/or listened to and then your child can take a quiz to check for understanding. You will find the links to Smarty Ants and raz-kids below.

Writing:  Practice writing EVERY day.  You can practice writing a 5 sentence Step up to Writing paragraph in your at-home journal.

Math: Play DreamBox for 10-15 minutes each night.

Continue to discuss ways to make 5 (and ways to make 10!), numbers in base ten (in the number 16, how many tens and how many ones?), addition and subtraction number problems and word problems, 2D and 3D shapes, and the Doubles Song. Count the money in your bank. Example: The number 14 has one ten and four ones. 10+4=14.

Turn-In Homework:  Write three or more sentences about your favorite book.  Draw a picture to go with your writing.
